This is something that comes up from time to time for me, when it comes to people I keep thinking about my folks how will I live without them in my life when they pass on, but the answer is the same as when my granny passed on I’ll learn and I’ll adapt and move on as time happens.
The basic’s of life I know I couldn’t live without because they are just that the basics of life (food and water being the two primary), but breaking it down into shelter and a companion in life, well the companion in life would be hard to live without, but its possible to do so, as is living without shelter, many people do it who are homeless or live off the land in general. Do I think I could do it? I’ll not say never, but I do not think I would thrive outside of the lifestyle that I’ve known growing up.
I will say though that living without Norman in my life after being with him for as long as we have been together would be very hard not to have him in my life for what ever reason, I know I could move on as it stands right now in my life, but when it comes to my folks age group and higher, I do not think I would wish to live without him in my life so to speak. People talk about older folks living together so long that when one passes on the other is soon to go as well, and I’ve seen this happen first hand.
I can’t really say what I can live without because from experience one can live without a good many things and still survive, but thriving is another matter entirely.
