Well I can’t say that I am totally out of shape, but I know that I am not in the same shape as I was 10 years ago, but I’m also 10 years older and things have changed in my life in the past 10 years. But the funny thing is I don’t feel like I’m 10 years older, I actually feel like I am still in my early to mid 20’s and certanily not a year closer to 40 (I’ll be 39 this October).
I’ve been struggling to sleep well each night, my restless let is really starting to interfere with getting a good night sleep and yet tests saw that nothing is wrong and nothing can be dun to stop or treat it. It’s painful and the muscle in the leg gets really sore from all the twitching that it goes though. I’ve gotten better at eating then I was for a long time, cutting the gluten from my meal deal has seen better glucose control and in the year I’ve seen a great improvement of my numbers that my endo is happy to see (he was starting to wonder what the world was going on with my glucose control because my a1c was’t going under 9.8).
In the past month I’ve managed to drop a few pounds, so the 20 that I gained last year is going in the right direction so I am hoping that this year I’ll have my 20 pounds down goal, would be great if I could have more then 20 pounds loss – but I’m not going to force my body to do anything that is to fast for it to do that it can’t keep it off. At the same time I am having to relearn things in how my body uses the insulin that in on board since I’m going more hypo then I have ever gone before going gluten free (ya seem’s me and gluten doesn’t get along, it has a lovely way of keeping my glucose levels high and preventing them from going down = not good). Its funny since so many fellow diabetics on the various boards i’m on get miffed with me when I say that I eat Rice without much of a glucose spike (because it doesn’t spike me like crazy – I do treat it with insulin, so ya its minimal spike because of the insulin).
I’ve been riding our stationary bike on and off all winter long, trying to get things to shift in the right direction and as the weather gets better I have been trying to get N to go for longer and longer walks so that we can both get that much needed cardio in, plus maybe help with other things that are connected to not being very active as we once where (but so far the only side effect is where both blasted sore from doing the extra walking that its not a great feeling – makes both of us feel a LOT older that is for sure).
But as the saying goes, no pain no gain so I’m not going to stop pushing us to getting out there and getting active as were able to get. Post more in short order, take care everyone!
