A common misconception is that type 2 diabetes becomes type 1 diabetes when insulin is introduced, this isn't the case you still type 2, just an insulin dependant type 2 (on the odd occasion being told Type 2 is wrong and you really are a type 1 - but one didn't turn into the other).
