Diabetes Awareness Month – Day 27

DKA is a complication caused by the body being unable to turn glucose into energy due to insulin deficiency. DKA is a common factor when first diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, but can also happen in a type 1 diabetic when blood sugar levels are too high for too long or when the body doesn't have enough insulin for a prolonged period of time.
