As we all know, there are 12 symbols within the Zodiac. Each symbol carries its own representation of each of the 12 houses of the Zodiac.
What is often not known is that each of those 12 signs/symbols/houses also carries its own color. As follows (but not in Zodiological order) the colors are (with their representative Zodiological signs) ;
Leo: Yellow
Virgo: Yellow/Green
Libra: Green
Scorpio: Teal (Green/ Blue)
Sagittarius: Blue
Capricorn: Indigo
Aquarius: Violet
Pisces: Violet/Red (or, Magenta)
Aries: Red
Taurus: Red/Orange
Gemini: Orange
Cancer: Orange/Yellow
Now, we’ll use the Virgo symbol as an example here (only because I’m the most familiar with this symbol….lol). The color appointed for the Virgo is yellow/Green. While I love the earthy tones of greens, I am not partial to yellows, with the exception of a very very light soft baby yellow….something you’d find in the layette departments for baby items. That color of yellow….and even then, if there’s alot of yellow, it is almost ‘blinding’ for me to look at for any length of time.
Yellow, in and of itself, is not a favorite color of mine. However, when looking at the representation of the color yellow….meditative, soft, warming… I do see many typical Virgo characteristics that would also be put into these categories. (Perfectionism not being one of them. lol)
Take also the color of Red. This is denoted under the Aries symbol. Aries are fire signs. Red is the color of fire….and is also the color of passion. Not sexual passion, but life passion. Anything and everything an Aries person does is done with a great amount of passion behind it. Everything….including sleep at times.
Leo…the royal sign. The type of character who wants the royal treatment. Looking at the color wheel…..yellow is denoted as this color. Now while purple normally represents royalty, it is the color of gold that represents wealth and richness. Not financial, although most Leos are very good at handling their finances, but rather internal and spiritual, moral and character wealth and riches.
Take a quick look over the colors and their Zodiological placements, and tell me how each color reminds you of a ‘typical’ trait for each sign. I’ll bet we can come up with tons! The light colors that are’assigned’ to each of the Zodiological chart representative symbols must be a bit more defined than this however. The light given from candles is more soft in tone, not as harsh on the eyes and gives off a multi-blended “auric’ color set. Thus, one of the primary reasons candle lights are the best to use during light healing therapies.
While many light therapists use different types of lights for their healing sessions, candle light will always remain a staple in their ‘tool kits’.
There is also a science behind the correlation between the Zodiac symbols and the colors of light ‘assigned’ to each symbol. Take a look at the seasons in which each symbol falls in. Then, take a look at the houses that each symbol represents….put one and one together, and you get the color wheel representations.
For example..the ‘cooler’ colors are within the cooler months, the warmer colors fall within the warmer months, and so forth. There are only two that do not seem to readily ‘fit’ into the categories to which they are assigned. Those two being Aries and Virgo.
Virgo falls between August and September, and Aries falls between March and April. Aries is represented by a more Red color, and Virgo is represented by a more Yellow/Green color. Well, the yellow green kind of represents the changing tones going from Summer to Fall, but the color representations of each of the Virgo characteristics is kind of ‘off’……in turn, Aries’ color is Red, and although Aries are highly passionate in regards to nearly everything they do within their lives, Red is not a color of Spring. It is a color of Fall, possibly Summer (the heat of summer…etc.), but definitely not Spring.
Let’s look at Aries for a moment, as Virgo is more explainable. Why Red for Aries? Looking at the statements given above, one would naturally come to assume that Aries, and the color Red would be a most compatible coupling, except the season of Aries is not hardly “Red” at all. It would be more ‘blue’, or possibly ‘yellow’, maybe even an orange tone. Not at all however. One reason, Red, in the early Spring, is a color that stands out like a sore thumb. There is still not to much color present in our surroundings in the early Spring time.
Things are still more on the brown/grey/black/white sides, with minuscule hints of color here and there as things start blossoming. Therefore, when we see a brilliant Red colored Crocus, or possibly a winter Red Rose…even Red Poinsettias…those stand out and draw a tremendous amount of attention to our eyes.
This is an Aries. Aries are generally understated in their choices of clothing, their home decorum and so forth…even in their choices of cars, office supplies, and so forth. They tend to go with very understated colors…..but yet, just like in their season…every so often….BAM……break outs of brilliant bright hues of reds, sometimes purples…even greens and Indigo blues. However, it really is mostly Red, and the Rosey tones that Aries folks often go towards, especially when they’re going to make a very pointed statement. Thus, this is the reasoning behind the color Red being ‘assigned’ for the Aries symbol in the color wheel/Zodiac wheel chart.
Virgo is a bit more complex than this. Virgo has the widest and broadest range of typical characteristics of the Zodiac chart, even more so than a Gemini, or a Libra. Virgos are highly complex folks, and have this ‘perfectionistic air’ about them that literally puts an auric mask around them, making it extremely difficult for others of the general public to understand them half the time. Yellow/Green… the colors of early Fall/Autumn. Very simple to understand why this would be one of the primary reasons of this color being ‘assigned’ to Virgo. However, it
is not just that reasoning alone that give Yellow/Green much importance to the Virgo symbol.
Most Virgos go for very organized color schemes, patterns and generally loathe anything loud, flamboyant and ostentatious. I mean they absolutely cannot stand it. One reason. To them, it seems disorderly, chaotic and unbalanced……wait, that’s the trait….balancing. And there is yet another reason that the Yellow/Green color fits so well with Virgo. It is a perfect balancing for early Fall. I know many Virgos who love the colors Green and Blue. Any shade of green and blue, so long as it’s not completely insane and on the brilliant neon side. Most Virgos I know can’t even stand looking at a green neon sign, just for the brilliance of the glowing color on their eyes. It almost literally hurts their eyes to look at it.
By no means do Virgos lead sedentary and dull lives. On the contrary. Virgos often have so much going on in their lives, that they can almost take on any number of chaotic and puzzling tasks….and make sense of it all in record time, analyze it to pieces, and then turn around and explain it in such an understandable fashion, that it leaves many people standing there scratching their heads wondering what in the heck just happened. Yellow/Green is also much like this. On the warmer tones of this color scheme, yellow/green becomes a more ‘mustard/olive’ tone. Bland, less colorful….and harder to blend in with the rest of the color schemes…….on the flip side, if we go to the brighter area, we then get a more ‘sun yellow/lime green’ tint…..which is also Virgo…in the sense that they can handle alot of chaotic blends and not have too much of a problem with it.
Like their counter parts, the Pisces, Virgos are also dreamers and thinkers. They have this in common with Pisces. And, if we go back and look at the color chart, the color assigned to Pisces is Orange. Orange…..the color of understanding and logic…..on the deeper side and more towards Red…..Orange, for the pisces sign, also represents more of a passionate understanding of life…and they dream. Alot. Pisces people, like Virgos, are often accused of making things up because they are often very willing to openly talk about their dreams, their ambitions, their thoughts, ideas, beliefs and so forth, and they are very adamant about this.
Orange is a perfect color for Pisces, just for this factor alone……and because of the many complexities of the Virgo sign, Yellow/Green is a perfect color scheme for them as well.
But there is more. Let’s delve just a little bit deeper. Let’s go now into the more scientific realm of this and look at the actual color spectrum of things. Visible lights only comprise roughly 15% of the color spectrum in its entirety. The range of the actual light/color spectrum runs from a high frequency of gamma rays running around 10 to the -6 power nanometers, on down to the lowest and longest frequency of 100 kilometers. The range where light frequencies become visible to us runs around the mid section between 100 nanometers and 1 micrometer.
Light spectrums run as follows, from the highest to the lowest, in order…. Gamma rays, X-Rays, Ultraviolet Radiation Rays, Visible Rays, Infrared Radiation Rays, Microwaves and Radio waves. On the Visible spectrum, the color Violet runs around the 400 nanometer range, while the color Red runs around the 700 nanometer range. (The higher the number the lower it is on the frequency line).
Because Radio waves, sound waves and light waves have so much in common, and are in fact often placed on the same scale, light therapists are able to utilize these to the benefit of their ‘patients’. Music and light often go together very well. The varying degrees of wave frequencies helps to align the body’s chakra systems far better than just light or just much alone. Meditative states are also achieved far faster if a combination of healing therapies and meditation methods are used…….for the above reasons. Mixing frequencies of light, and sound, work far better than just using one or the other alone.
Take for example a nice relaxing home. How would your home look, smell, feel and sound in order for you to consider it to be 100% completely relaxing to the point that you would be able to just sit in your favorite spot and fall into a nice deep meditative state?
Think……close your eyes and really think….think about the smells. Would there be cinnamon? Vanilla? Sage? Possibly a combination? Lavender, or maybe Jasmine? How about the sounds? The sounds of the ocean? Maybe the sounds of soft classical music, maybe an Indian flute…..or even just the soft sound of a summer breeze. what of the colors, and the lighting? Would you use candles, or maybe no lights at all and only the moon light, or the sunlight? Maybe a soft lamp? Now, think about your physical and material surroundings.
What about the furnishings? A nice porch swing? Maybe a big fluffy well cushioned lounge chair? A rocking chair perhaps? Maybe a big Rex Sofa….or even the floor? Lots of pillows or no pillows?
Everyone has their own tastes and differences of preference when it comes to making their “relaxation zones” just that……relaxing. Some even prefer nothing but a tub filled with hot steamy water and a nice soft washcloth. Before moving on to the more scientific realm of light and color, let’s take a moment now to think about what it is that we really like about our relaxation and comfort spots. What is it that you would ultimately surround yourself for the utmost in comfort and relaxation?
