30 Days Asexuality Challenge – Day 3

It is now Day 3 of the 30 Days of Asexuality Challenge, and today I am to answer the following question How old were you when you realized you were asexual? What made you realize it?

I’ve never fully fit into the groups around me when it came to girls or boys, I always saw both as friends and nothing more. I never understood what made a girl more attractive to another girl or boy, or what have you it never made sense to me growing up. My mom use to say that I was just late that when I meet the person who was right for me that I’d know what my orientation truly was.

I started off at a young age by saying I was gender neutral when it came to an interest in others, which many took mean that I was bisexual and still to this day many it seems feel that way when I say I’m gender neutral of those I’m interested in.

It was in early 2000 that I first herd the term asexual itself being used, there was an article in the Toronto Star on AVEN a organization that was trying to promote and help those who are asexual, it from that article that got me thinking about my lack of interest in sex with either gender or attraction to either gender for that matter.

It was after joining AVEN that I actually started to use the term asexual itself, though like a lot of things old habits and the like still come up such as saying that sexually I’m gender neutral.
