the Idiot’s Guide to Fibro book

Well picked up the book on Monday and been going though the book slowly and finding parts of it rather interesting, will need to really go though it by actually reading it instead of skimming but so far in the first chapter it has a interesting list/table “Fibromyalgia symptom frequency” and I can relate to many of them that are listed but of course not all of them.

Symptom ……………………… Frequency (%) . Yes / No
Widespread muscle and joint pain .. 100% ………. Yes
Fatigue ……………………… 80% ……….. No
Sleep difficulties ……………. 75% ……….. Yes
Numbness and Tingling …………. 64% ……….. Yes
Dizziness ……………………. 60% ……….. Yes
Swollen feeling in tissues …….. 40% ……….. No

\Aggravating factors of Pain\
Cold temperature ……………… 80% ……….. Yes
Anxiety ……………………… 80% ……….. Yes
Poor sleep …………………… 76% ……….. Yes
Stress ………………………. 63% ……….. Unknown
Overuse or trauma …………….. 62% ……….. Unknown
Physical inactivity …………… 48% ……….. No
Noise ……………………….. 24% ……….. Yes

\\Overlapping Conditions /Symptoms\\
Chronic fatigue syndrome ………. 64% ……….. No
Irritable Bowel Syndrome ………. 60% ……….. Yes
Multiple chemical sensitivity ….. 55% ……….. Yes
Headaches ……………………. 53% ……….. Yes
Dizziness ……………………. 47% ……….. Yes
Primary dysmenorrhea ………….. 45% ……….. Unknown
Restless Leg Syndrome …………. 31% ……….. Yes
Female urethral syndrome ………. 12% ……….. No
Dry Mouth ……………………. 12% ……….. Yes
Temporomandilbular dysfunction …. Common
Periodic lim movement disorder …. Common
Cognitive impairment ………….. Common

Reding the list makes me think that to many things are associated with this condition and that it can be easy to say “A” is because of Fibro just as so many ppl say because you are diabetic X is the result when X might not even be related to being diabetic at all.

I can see how this will be a condition that I will not wish to speak much about to anyone in the medical field as it doesn’t make a lot of sense and treatment seems to fall under the diabetic deal of “deal with it because you have the condition” without wishing to look further into what might be the cause.
